Well, many of you already know of my Vintage '95 Chevy Lumina. I don't really need to explain the greatness of this classic. Unfortunately the transmission has decided it wants to slowly go bye-bye. To fix this problem, it will burn a nice $1800 hole in my pocket. Now, because I am so horrendously poor, I am going to have to wait out the problem until I have the cash for some options. While I would hate to get rid of my baby, really don't know if I want to spend that kind of money and still have a... shitty car :-(

So I either have to spend $1800 to rebuild the transmission, spend a couple thousand on a new used car, or get a new car with the lowest monthly payments I can get. So far I am thinking I can ride out the problem for a while, just prolong its death, and start planning to make ~$300 payments on a Scion tC or something.

Due to the nature of the problem, which is with the overdrive, I think I can just put it in drive and last a good while.

another extra cost with a new car is going to be insurance. remember, with a new car you have to have full coverage, thats expensive :-\

I think buy a new car is probably a better choice, as you really would ended up spending more money fixing the old car.

Well yeah. But I just got a nice drop in insurance, so it will probably go back up to where it was before if not a little more.

that's true, but general case is once the car is starting to fail, you will ended up paying more money fixing this and that. It's really not worth that much I think. Just think, if you pay little here and there, it all adds up.
