The F.E.A.R. demo was released today. I have been psyched about this game since I first heard of it. I just played through the demo, and holy hell in a hand basket, I was not disappointed! It's got awesome combat with sweet physics and hella cool enemy AI. Not to mention the seemingly overdone yet somehow still awesome slow-mo. It works very well in this game. Graphics are top-notch as well!

I was surprised at how well the enemies fought. For example, in one scene, I went into an open area with a catwalk in the middle. There was one guy on the catwalk and one guy below. As I busted through the door, the guy above saw me, told the other guy and he came after me while the top guy called for backup. After I was did away with them, a chopper/plane had dropped several more guys on top of the catwalk as I was running up the steps. I, of course, started blasting my way through them and the ones that survived leapt over the edge down below to regroup and attack. Of course, I followed, leaping over and charged them from cover to cover. Some of them would leap over or on top of boxes and around crates to fire at me then retreat to cover again. Of course, me being the superior fighter, I leapt over the boxes and crates as the surprised enemies tried to back away while the others attacked me from the sides.

Man... now that's combat!

And don't let me forget the creepy scary stuff. Damn. I must say that all the scariness and darkness and eeriness I expected from Doom 3 is definitely in F.E.A.R.

Well, I'll stop babbling for now. But you guys need to download the demo. Now. Even if you don't like it, download it just to make me happy. Can't wait to buy it!

And GO!

I decided to post some screenshots I took while playing just to show off the nice graphics of the game, as well as some stuff I thought was cool...

BE WARNED, THEY MAY BE "SPOILERS" IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE DEMO YET.

Did you like the slow-mo? I thought it was great. Especially when you saw your bullets hit the enemies, and cause then to react with rag-doll physics even when they were still alive. Hit a guy in the shoulder and he spun a bit, lost hold of his aim, then corrected himself to try to attack some more. Also notice when you shoot them in the leg and if you don't kill them, they limp around.

A lot of detail was put in this game, I love it.

They even went so far as to make the water 3D. Look at the column in the middle of the water and you can see ripples coming from it. Go into the water and you can see the ripples are 3D.

IT is a pretty sweet demo, seemed a bit short though. But ought to be a kick ass game!

I did like the slo-mo, my only real complaint is that it seemed like it was really difficult to kill the enemies without slo-mo. Like, if you didn't use slo-mo, you would pretty much be dead. I would think slo-mo would be less of a requirement for battle and more of a special thing.

I didn't notice the stuff like limping etc, but i did notice that in slo-mo, if i shot a guy once, his body would react to it, and then if i shot him again while he's in the air, he would react again (looks sorta cool if for example you shoot them in the right shoulder then the left shoulder)

that little girl freaked me out :-P

oh yeah and i thought the water looked really good, but i didn't notice the ripple stuff. that's why i took screenies of it, cuz it was purty

I know that rail-gun is powerful, but my god... (attachment)

Fyi, that's a foot on the bottom left, a arm on the bottom right, a knee on the top right, I think an upside down torso in the middle, can't see the other hand or the head...
