View Full Version : Cleaning up the forums

Most of the threads are being posted in the General Discussion forums when they don't always belong there. I think the problem is, for one, a lack of strict moderation and also, the forums haven't been that organized. I added a new forum and a new category, so now there are three forums related to TheTechLounge covering Contests, Reviews / Articles and TheTechLounge Questions and Comments.

There are six community forums, not directly related to TheTechLounge that cover, General Discussion, Hardware / Software / Electronics, Tech Support, Modding, Games and For Sale / Trade.

I moved several threads out of the General Discussion forums that belonged in the TheTechLounge Questions and Comments and Hardware / Software / Electronics.

So do you guys have any suggestions as to making the forums more organized and easier to browse? Do you think we should split up the Hardware / Software / Electronics forums into three separate forums?

Well, sometimes spreading things too thin makes the forum look inactive. As long as there are new threads/posts in a forum group, it'll attrack users to it regardless of what the group is called. And, once attracked to a forum group, they'll notice all the new threads/posts in one area, instead of spending a couple minutes browsing through all the individual areas.

I agree, That's why I initially condensed the forums a while back.

I agree as well. But something isn't right when the people who do post, put the threads in the wrong forum. Why even bother having more than one forum when people are posting everything under the sun in the General Discussion?

put some of us 'responsible' people into moderator roles... with only the option to move threads rather than delete or ban users... no wait... I want that power... okay... make me a omnipotent moderator... and everyone else... umm... just... lesser... beings... or something...

Just wanted to ask, by your logic, should that Newegg Coupons thread be in this forum? It's not exactly a "question or comment" :-P Maybe this forum should be TTL General Discussion or something

Well, seeing as this is the forum description:

"Here is the place to talk about TheTechLounge. Announcements, questions and comments regarding TheTechLounge should be posted here."

You should have a pretty good idea of what will be in there. The title of the forum is not one of those super important things that we have to go back and forth discussing. If you think of a better name, then change it. Or we can keep going back and forth here and never really getting anywhere :-P

Decisiveness Kurtis! Chop chop!

I think we should discuss it a bit further.

Do you like... bread?

You know what could help keep the forums clean? If you two bickered on your own time through e-mails or some instant messaging program ;-)

I swear the majority of the spam in this forum is from you two! And Mike… that negative nancy… always bullying around the smaller forum members…
