As I write this, I am surrounded by nicely designed furniture and lighting, and the only thing that ruins the overall effect are the ugly power strips. A humble gadget which is often very cheap and badly designed precisely because it is so ubiquitous that it is overlooked.
Here are a collection of well designed power strip ideas from sliding, plugin-anywhere systems, that have been available for high end office design for decades but haven’t been available in consumer markets, to a $3500 audiophile power strip based upon quantum Resonance technology.
I can't think of a single power strip in my house that has a single bit of aesthetic upside. I wish you could go to Walmart and pick stuff like this up. Probably not the "Quantum Resonance" thingy because that might cause little black holes to appear and wreak havoc on the universe. Or was that some other piece of recent tech? Either way, here's a haiku (or two) on the subject of my technology umbilicals:
