Mozilla Corporation on Friday released Firefox 3 RC1, more or less the final form of this iteration of the popular open-source Web browser. RC stands for Release Candidate and represents a stage in which the browser's features are complete and the code is stable enough for public testing. Barring any serious bugs, RC1 will become the official release version of Firefox 3, which is planned for June.


It looks like Firefox 3.0 is going to be pretty awesome in terms of performance and improvements from the previous iteration. Some of the new features look pretty slick too. The one-click bookmarks allow you to star a currently active page with "one click", hence the name. Click again, and you can tag that bookmark with any keywords that you want to associate with it - perfect for people who can't be too organized. The page zooming scales the entire page and remembers your preference when you navigate back to the site. I am already being tempted to switch away from Safari when this hits release...
