Netflix A new Netflix survey posted by Engadget suggests that the company may be looking into streaming support for the PlayStation 3. It asks how likely users would be to utilize streaming Netflix movies on the system for a one-time cost of $9.99 for a an "Instant Streaming Disc." This is very similar to the recent report of a Wii survey, which also asked about a required disc for the functionality. This doesn't mean that streaming is necessarily coming to either console, but we know that Netflix wants to use consoles and set top boxes to get into as many homes as possible.

I gotta wonder, is Sony going to charge Netflix for the privilege of bringing added content to their console, too?

I dunno, I was really infatuated with Netflix's insta-watch until I shelled out for cable (yes because I didn't want to deal with HD, I'm anathema or something)(seriously, I can't take any of these closeups that are so popular anyway, I don't want to deal with un-groomed nostrils on top of all that) so what I'm getting at is this: if you can afford a PS3 you can build a HTPC and record enough Law & Order to choke a... police horse? You can feed horses television, right?

image creative commonsed from here. horses may or may not live on electronics, but apparently you can dress them up like idiots and they don't mind

Beyond the quote, and title of the article, I only vaguely understand anything that guy just said.

I think the jist of what Max was trying to say is... Sony is retarded because they want to charge Netflix for bringing movies to the PS3. Personally, I can see why they'd want to make a little cash off of Netflix who will be making additional revenue thanks to Sony's device. The other side of the coin is that the PS3 is still not selling as well as they'd like so they should probably just focus on giving consumers the feeling that it has value, even if it means missing opportunities to make a few bucks from content partners.

The rest of what Max was saying, I can only assume, came as a result of booze and remembering, with just a few minutes til midnight, that he hadn't yet posted news for the day. :-D

Hey now, you don't know that midnight was involved in that.

Okay so it was just the copious amounts of booze. Glad that's settled. :-D
