Who says netbooks are no good for business? Not Lenovo, apparently. The company is considering entering the space with a business-minded, ThinkPad netbook.
"It's an area we're exploring," Lenovo analyst Matthew Kohut told APC Magazine, "but I can't comment one way or the other. Watch this space, that's all I can say."
On April 16, Lenovo vice president of design David Hill posted a blog entry, calling for user input on whether or not Lenovo should even apply the ThinkPad name to a netbook.
So, Lenovo, Imma tell you what you gotta do. First, your competition isn't Acer, Asus, MSI, or the like. It's HP. The 2140 with its HD display and magnesium chassis and, you know,
business appeal means that your competition is defined very well. You got the X200, use that as your starting point.
No touchpad and a display greater than 1024x600 is necessary. Make it shock-proof, give it a real 2.5" 7200RPM hard drive, and have one great model with b/g/draft-n, Bluetooth, the works. Make it a 10" deal, and anything that isn't netbook fill it full of battery.
Whatever you do, do not imply that these netbooks will give you the swine flu. Just. Just don't.
