Alienware M17: What size bullets does it take? @ RPS
So I was contacted by a PR representative for some company who asked me if I wanted to test an M17. I didn't let on at the time, but I had no idea what exactly an M17 was. I knew what an M16 was. And I knew what an M18 Hellcat was. So I figured an M17 was something between the two. Perhaps a massive bazooka or maybe a fixed gun emplacement. It sounded fun either way. I enthusiastically agreed. Imagine my disappointment when it showed up and it was only a laptop computer.

Alienware M17: in the wild @ RPS
The first step was getting the M17 out to my car. My next door neighbor is a stuntman, so he's pretty fit. He played one of the mercenaries in Lost. The two of us had little problem getting it into the trunk of my car. But once I got to Starbucks, it was a bit more challenging. Thankfully, the barista had one of those dollies they use to roll boxes of coffee and whatnot in and out of the store near closing time to let you know it's time to leave already.

I know, I've done it. They really do make you feel a little ashamed. I mean, if you drive a hummer with a light rack and don't pick up your boxer's Cleveland steamers, then you probably don't get this feeling often.

As a guy who gets a lot of work done in coffee shops, I've gotten to know the other regulars in this town. Mostly they're grad students, they always look like shit, and there are other blogger folk, they always look like shit, and then there are people who are just loaded and want to look busy. One of those guys, I don't bother to learn his name, has a beautiful Alienware laptop, and he's always at this one joint, (Cafe Europa if you're curious) (Heidi, you now owe me a coffee) (oh, I still have that box of French chocolates you wanted me to bring back) (dude I know she's hot but she's kinda crazy, too) and I finally peeked over his screen, and what's he doing there all damn day?

Video poker. I'd have been less disappointed if he was getting his WoW on.
