What are RSS Feeds?
RSS feeds are used to syndicate information such as news, blogs, classifieds and more from news and content driven websites. This enables you to see what's new at your favorite websites without having to visit them. You can usually tell if a website offers RSS feeds by a small orange button with the text "RSS" or "XML". However, just clicking one of these links usually displays a bunch of code that doesn't do much of anything unless you know what to do with it. In order to properly read the feed, you need an RSS reader.
There are many RSS readers and RSS-enabled applications today. Most new browsers will display the feed nicely and allow you to subscribe to it as well. There are also online feed readers from companies such as Yahoo and Google that you may already have access to with your Yahoo or Google email account. To learn more about RSS, visit
