Search Tips
Use the search form to find pages containing specific words or phrases. You can modify the scope of your search by using the drop-down select box.
Running a search with a single search term will display any content that contains that specific search term. Running a search with multiple search terms will display any content that contains any of the search terms. You can search for a specific phrase by surrounding multiple search terms with
" ".
Some words are ignored when searching:
- Any word less than three characters long is ignored.
- Words that are so common that they are considered to have zero semantic value are ignored. The and some are a couple examples.
Search results are returned in order of importance with the best matches showing up at the top of the list. You can further modify your search terms in order to receive more accurate results by using the operators described below.
Advanced Searching
Place the following operators directly in front of search terms to modify their importance:
- + Indicates that this word must be present in all of the search results
- - Indicates that this word must not be present in any of the search results
- > Indicates that results containing this word are more important and will show up earlier
- < Indicates that results containing this word are less important and will show up later
- ~ Indicates that results containing this word are of the least importance and will show up last
For example, the query
+"optical drive" <cd >dvd will only display results that contain the phrase
optical drive and will rate results containing
dvd as more important while results containing
cd are rated as less important.
Place a
* directly after a search term to indicate the term is truncated. For example, the search query
har* will return results containing
hard drive and
hardware.
