Introduction
The Roku Netflix Player is a deviant little machine. It connects to your television and the Internet to stream video by way of your Netflix subscription.
If you have a Netflix subscription, you've probably noticed the Watch Now option some movies have, and maybe even tried out the Watch Instantly feature, trying to figure out ways to get you Fawlty Towers on while you should be working. This is kind of nothing like that at all. If you don't have a Netflix subscription, then maybe this'll convince you to do away with your blue and yellow membership.
What it does: play movies that you've added to your "watch instantly" queue on your TV. It supports SD and HDTVs alike, via component, composite, S-Video, or HDMI interfaces. It also does digital audio.
What it doesn't do: allow you to manage your queue, instant or otherwise, or browse Netflix's streamable content.
There are other limitations as well, some of them, if not all of them, imparted by Netflix's current streaming model. What's the upside? It's a one-time cost of $100, there's a 30-day money back guarantee, and there are no subscription fees in addition to your Netflix account; it just taps into a feature you might not ever use otherwise.
